Sohmer piano restoration
(or sometimes called
rebuilding), if done by a
qualified technician, has
traditionally been viewed as a
great investment and alternative
to purchasing a new piano.
Modifications usually included
in a full Piano Restoration:
• Action regulation
• Bridge repair
• Cabinet refinishing
• Brass polishing
• Damper felts replaced
• Damper regulation
• Decal replacement (if
neccessary)
• Hammers (new or rebuilt)
• Ivory keytops are replaced
(sometimes with with quality
plastic keytops)
• Key bushings (new)
• Action regulation
• Pinblock and/or tuning pin
replacement
• Soundboard replacement or
repair
• Strings replaced or cleaned
• Repetition levers replacing or
rebuilding
• Tuning
• Voicing.
